![]() See your lap times instantly, capture video and telemetry data, compare circuit laps side-by-side, impress your friends with video+data overlays, and more! ![]() But if you can do it and have it be 100% unobtrusive, why not? Super happy with porsche track precision app.TrackAddict, by HP Tuners, transforms your Android™ device into a motorsports telemetry and video system. I agree with the general statement that greenies should concentrate on the basics of diving and not be distracted by data logging/video. So porsche allows you to do all that without ANY 3rd party hardware or software orher than a phone. My second hpde, i got it mounted properly, again not a distraction since i couldn't even see the screen while driving. I found it invaluable as it logs all your data, brake, throttle, speed, rpm, gear, steering, over under steer, etc so you can look at it after the fact and realize how much you suck and when you do things right or wrong. Not pointed very well, it did a decent job, and, i didn't look at it till the sessions were over. So on the 3rd day, i managed to mount the phone on the windshield and a cable tie tether. There was no distraction, while waiting in grid, i just got the thing started, then didn't look at it again till finished. I just prepped it, stuck it in my pocket and it starts recording as soon as you pass the start line. No need for 4K and my computer would explode if I even mentioned 4K resolution around it so I stick to something more reasonable.Ī a noob greenie, i datalogged my 1st trackday using porsche track precision app on my phone, which in a 992 gets all the obd data wirelessly from the car's wifi hotspot. This part is tedious and takes ages to sync up the audio and the data and usually takes me a full week after the track day since I do it little by little after work when I get home and my computer is ancient. CSV file after the track day.Īfter the entire day is over, I get all the videos and data and spend hours manually syncing everything up using RaceRender3. Connected to my BT OBDII reader to record telemetry from the car.Placed in my pocket or in the glove box.Phone is running the TrackAddict app for lap times.Connected to my BT GPS receiver running at 10Hz ( Qstarz BT-Q818XT).Mounted to my windshield with a Ram Mounts suction cup.Make sure to set the exposure/ISO settings all to account for low light on this one.Mounted upside-down underneath the steering wheel facing my pedals. In some of my videos on YouTube, you'll see how it looks if you don't do spot metering because the interior is nice and visible but the track is completely blown out and over exposed. That'll expose for the center so the track will show up properly. Exposure settings should be the one where it exposes for the center of the frame instead of the overall one. ![]() The front tow hook view is cool if you want it to look like a video game. Most of the time I use the helmet now because I like to see my steering inputs and where I turn my head.
